Cameroon is witnessing a
movie-making revival, triggered by cheaper digital technology and inspired by
the successes of the Ghana and Nigeria film industries. , Cameroon is
following in their footsteps and the Cameroon Film Industry (CFI) may become
the next African video industry to take off.
The Cameroon Film Industry
can already boast of Blockbuster movies like My Image, Wardzee, Nightfall,
Tenacity, Rose on a grave and a handful of others; TV series in the likes of
Cite Malingo, Bad Angel, Rumble, multiple award-winning Samba; and several Film
festivals and movie Awards notably the Canal d’or Awards, Ecran Noir Film
festival and the fast-growing Cameroon International Film Festival which has been absent for close to two years now organizers blame on the ongoing Anglophone crisis.
The good news is moviemakers might be converging on Buea next year for another moviemakers Jamboree as the 2020 edition of the CAMIFF has been announced.
The Cameroon International Film Festival -
CAMIFF is slated to feature over 2000 films from approximately 25 countries.
Thousands of people are expected to attend screenings, CAMIFF parties and
festival-related activities in Buea at the Mountain Hotel, hosting visiting
celebrities and festival participants.
CAMIFF is expected to bring more international filmmakers, celebrities and industry
leaders to the festival, resulting in greater educational and entertainment
opportunities.
Filmmakers have been called upon to submit narrative features, shorts,
documentary features, and features films from across the world from November
31st, 2019.
