Cameroonian Singer Kissilâ Kay wins Best International African Act at BEFFTA UK

Cameroonian – France -based singer Kissilâ Kay carries the day at the Black Entertainment, Film, Fashion and Television and Art awards recently in England.

BEFFTA, the exclusively East End Film and Media event awarding and honouring the best showbiz and entertainment personalities in the black and ethnic communities in the UK, USA, Africa, Caribbean, Canada and globally is the first of its kind rewarding under one roof outstanding achievements and contributions from Africans, Caribbeans and Asians in entertainment, film, fashion, television and arts. The just ended 8^th edition of the international prestigious Award that celebrates an all-around accomplishment of a hard working community within entertainment and showbiz, awarded Cameroonian born Kissilâ Kay Best International Female African Act.

The lioness who hasn’t lost an iota of her Cameroonian identity hails from the West Region of Cameroon and lives in France. Unlike most Africans living in Europe, she still carries a strong representation of the African music and Cameroon most especially.

Kissilâ Kay wins the title against huge African female acts like Nigeria’s multi-award winning Yemi Alade, Seyi Shay, Tiwa Savage, Efya, Vannessa Mdee, Akothee, Butera Knowless, Lira, Zahara, Kan2, Victoria Kimani, and Angela Kalule. With another recognition of this magnitude, it is no doubt that Cameroon is breaking even in the international music platform.

While 237 still celebrates her big win at the BEFFTA, Kissilâ gets more attention with the release of her new ode to love - a hard-hitting Afro-trap lyric punctuated by melodic Zulu-style harmonies, masterfully woven with an upbeat contemporary African rhythm, and one message to all: You can't always choose who you fall in love with.
