The Interview

Welcome To Step On Magazine Seta

It's my pleasure. Thank you

Let's Begin With This Very Traditional Question. Who Is Seta, How Can You Introduce Yourself To Someone Meeting You For The Very First Time And The Name Seta...Is It Your Real Name?

Yeah Seta is my surname.
Seta is a simple and warm hearted person, Artist and philanthropist.

Ok Let's Get To The Base. When Did You Start Doing Music?

Actually I started playing guitar at the age of ten and it’s kind of a family gene. For singing I was in my school choir in secondary school and also a drummer [hahaha]. I Started working on my vocals at the age of 16 and going into the studio trying some recordings and you know ‘’that kind na….” During my study program in Ghana I visited a studio where the manager of crown records was recording some of his artists “Ruff and Smooth” and I just got to do a line on the beat and he was amazed and that was the opening of a professional music career for me. That was in 2012.

Getting To Your Works Of Art, How Many Songs And/ Or Albums Has Seta Recorded So Far?

Well, getting to that it will be a hard one to announce at the moment. But I am always inspired (Thank God) and have dropped quite a bunch of unreleased songs which from there I am targeting realizing singles, and then probably an album by the end of the year 2015. You can check out my already first released single “Dancerere”.

Before Getting To That, Do You Have Any Role Models May Be In Music Or Without That Have A Great Influence On Your Music And What Genre Of Music Do You Do?

Yeah….growing up I was so much into bands like West Life, Backstreet Boyz and I was part of a group performing their songs back in Secondary school. Since I was also a guitarist I started learning to play some of their songs and growing mature in music I began appreciating Michael Jackson and R. Kelly. These dudes are good in creativity. So I look up to them a lot.
I do Afro Pop, RnB, Soul, Dancehall, Reggae and I am very open to get into some other genre. Just any form of good music.

.

Now Getting To Your Hit Single “Dancerere” If You Can Permit Me Call It That Way....What Is The Inspiration Behind This Hit?

Of course good things deserve appreciation. The song is a hit! Well, I think it is the song’s unique nature. The blend and clarity of its instruments (no noise) and the way I landed on it. Oya Dancerere…!!!
Hahaha!

Getting A Bit Serious, What Message Does “Dancerere” Carry And To Whom Is It Addressed?

“Dancerere” is actually a message to dance with joy and everything that is in you.
When you can see the break of a new day is it easy? No bi na for dancerere?
When you hustle pays nobi for dancerere?
When you work for the whole week and decide to chill during weekend nobi for dancerere? When they give your Visa to travel to Europe or America and you call your friends and family for party no be na for dancerere?
When you di marry you dancerere, when you di chop your money you dancerere.
Yessssss! That happy feeling.
The song is addressed to everyone. Just play the song anywhere and see for yourself the reaction of every age group.

I Hear You Just Got Signed Into Blaxity, Did They Come For You Or You Went To Them? ...Assuming This Information Is Right, What Happened That You Left Crown Records?

Hahaha!
It works in both directions.
Yeah, to make things clear, I haven’t left Crown Records. It is a Ghana based Record Label which actually directs me on the kind of music I should do at what time and which song I should release. They pay for my recordings, videos and promotion in Ghana. Meanwhile Blaxity is my Cameroonian management. They handle my promotion and marketing here in Cameroon. It’s quite a family, I am glad to be part of especially working with Tony Nobody. He is so full of ideas and very swift!!

The First Time I Watch The 'Dancerere' Video On TV It Never Crossed My Mind One Bit That It Was Done By A Cameroonian, I Later Confirmed It Was Done By A Cameroonian When I Watch You Performed On Tony Nobody's Platform "Caravane Mobile". Will You Accept To Attribute The Success Of This Hit To The Video Directors Or You Wouldn't Want To Share Your Success With Others?

Yeah..!  Many people always say the song is Nigerian in quality. But Cameroonian artists are breaking boundaries into new territories with their music. If you are still sleeping thinking Cameroon music quality is the one of those gone days then better wake up. Woooo!!! On my own this song wouldn’t be this successful. Spices came in from every angle. Very humbly I am giving bows of respect and gratitude to everyone who put in an effort to make this song what it is today.  To A.K the producer, Chuzih and Ada Akenji the video Directors, the dancers, and the entire production crew. And to Papa God, “Na only you di win ooooh”!!

Brilliant one there... I want to believe you've been expecting this question, Is Seta Married?

hahaha
oga nobi you go spoil ma market oooh
But every man and woman deserves a partner. I am not an exception right?
She is out there. Raaaaah!!

And he start's asking me questions. LOL

Cameroon sick hahaha

Nice escape there. Ok another daring question. How much was the 1st amount of money you earned from your music talent?

I shall call the amount “satisfactory”. It was appreciated.
In terms of figures “ma brother I beg make e leavam deh oooh”

Let’s throw our minds to the future a bit. What will your music career look in 5years to come?

haaah!! God is faithful. Let’s stay alive and witness it.
He has the future in his hands
For me whatever distance he will carry me to in the five years is sufficient.

After Dancerere What next should fans expect from Seta ?

wooooo!! hot!! Hot!! Bin short Burning!!
Ladies be ready for Shake Bagando
Yeah every African woman loves to dance with the waist. This is it!!
