GENERAL TOX-ZIK: Im Gonna Be Hot Cake In Africa Very Soon.

GENERAL TOX-ZIK

  Q. when did you start music?
A. Well! actually I should say I started music really young, that was in the choir at church, that was when I was 6years old and I was doing the lead vocal that young, so, I came to realize that I can do music in many parts. I had to develop the skills on and on, first in the church choir and later on I formed my own band by then I was in class 7 and we were 3 of us. We were doing the popular music at the was ragga. We could not afford to do instrumentals by then so we were just singing acapella and that kind of stuff. We also wrote some songs, though childish but, it was up to a level. so I can say I started music at the age of six being 29 now.

Q. So tell me who is Tox Zik?

A. Tox Zikis that person that was brought up in a noble and discipline family, in a gate house for sure. I had a very disciplined dad as well. I attended St Joseph's College- SASSE, PHS Mankon and I concluded in Yaoundé in EHS. I worked in Kumba as a journalist. You know as a journalist you've got to hustle as well, so I trained myself as a DJ. I worked in big night clubs and render some big as well. At the moment I am the outdoor publicity manager of Source du pays popularly referred to as supermont. I think I have attained a level where my colleagues and friends have included a title to my name that is General Tok Zik.
Q.what type of music do you sing?

A.  Truly I do hip hop, but today we do a mixture of hip hop and a bit of makossa. I may say now I do afro hip hop and a bit of slow and rap.
Q. I hear you were amongst the artists who performed at the late Nollywood actor Sam Loco Efe's funeral. In very few words can you tell us how you got in contact with Nollywood so as to be honored in such a manner.

A. You know, the world has become so little through a global meeting point, the internet. I swear, where you are sitted right now is where I recieved that call. I don't know how or what. That same day I recieved that call was like "you have been selected as part of the Cameroonian delegation to leave Cameroon for Sam Loco's funeral, amongst other delegations like Hollywood, Ghollywood and many others" I was amazed. My leader ws Joe Wockey and they asked if i was ready. I was like, hey! I'm ready. Sam Loco has always been a role model to me. Just being a comedian and someone who spoke alot of sense I used to love him.Meeting great stars back there in Nigeria was a marvelous thing to me. Imagine, you are killing yourself appreciating Mama G on screen, saying this woman is great. Now after performing she searches through the crowd to come and tell you "my son you are doing a great job.Away from any joke being in Nigeria was the first time I felt myself in the shove of a star. I had personal bodyguard, I was given an international treatment. In Nigeria I was not considered as Terence, I was considered as General Tok Zik. Back there in Naija I performed with artist like Timaya, 2face,P square,Chidima and many highlife musicians you may not know. In the midst of all these Nigerian top stars, to be truthful I was very complex, but I didn't show that out. I stood firm and chilled just as the General that I am.

Q.From what you saw in Nigeria with entertainment world. Do you think Cameroon stands the chance or has Cameroon got hope?

A. Talking about hoping, we have hopes mennn. I'm gonna say it again and again that we've got hopes. Why do I say so? The guys I have been seeing, watching them closely in Kumba and equally in Cameroon. These guys have been thrilling me so much. I don’t want to say many of them are even more than me now because I may not accept it. Recently Cameroon has been producing music that is actually hitting Africa. I will like to congratulate the X- Maleya not forgetting the back brain Pit Barcady and also Stanley Enow, coming up strong. A very good friend of mine whom I did know will become what he is today. That's why I say we have a lot of hopes, may be my time is not now, but when my time is ripe I'm gonna be hot not only in Kamer, I'm gonna be hot everywhere.
Q. One last word

A. Finally I have a problem with Cameroonian promoters, who do I consider as Cameroonian promoters? Talking about companies, the rich guys out there, those who love showbiz, but pretend not to. I just want to tell them that we are coming. Just like what Mulango Zanni and Mister T are  doing here in kumba. You must not be the richest man in town before you can sponsor an artist.
